A Saturday afternoon with Ocean All Over
Ocean All Over is a live art / theatre company performing in public spaces around Scotland and beyond. It is the vision and masterpiece of creative director Alex Rigg who is prolific in the creation of poetry, music, costume and movement that form his shows.
I was lucky enough to experience and document the show Sea Hames twice in one day - in the city of Paisley and later in the small village of Lochwinnoch. The show is based on poems by Alex about horses and the sea and incorporates mobile electronic music, live music, choreography, costume, song and spoken word. Quite a feat.
The effect that each environment had on the performance was notable; hopefully it comes across in the photographs. It’s always quite something watching and listening to people’s reactions to Art in public spaces. Imagine going out to do your shopping then coming across this lot.
Visually, I particularly enjoyed capturing the highly theatrical characters against the every-day, ordinary environments of Paisley with it’s betting shops, nail bars and Brexit posters; it’s definitely not something I see everyday.
