The Heygate, Elephant & Castle, London 2012.
In 2012, I visited the Heygate Estate the former home of more than 3000 people. During this time there were a number of ex-residents and friends keeping a community garden alive within the estate. Games such as "Catch the Flag" were regularly organised on the estate. The estate was demolished by Southwark in 2014 as part of a £1.5 billion regeneration scheme. In 2016, it was reported that 100% of the new properties had so far been sold to foreign investors.
