New Drumz Of The South book is here. Read an extract on UKF

The second edition of my book Drumz Of The South: The Dubstep Years has landed and is now on general sale!

The big reveal is that the cover is in fact matte gold, in celebration of 20 years of Drumz Of The South and a cheeky nod to readers of the first edition that referred to it as the "dubstep bible."

The matte gold subtly continues throughout the book and replaces the smoky orange hue of the first edition which evoked both the lights of London's streets and the infamous bulb above Plastic People's DJ booth.

As with the first edition, it was a pleasure to work with Alfie Allen (plus Felix Luke) on the design.

A huge thanks to Velocity Press' Colin Steven for taking on this edition and contributing some very valuable ideas that influenced both the design and content. Adding extra context in the form of text reflections by a handful of people in the D.O.T.S community that I love and respect is something I'm most excited about with this book. Thank you again Emma Warren, DJ Flight, Charlie Dark MBE , Martin Clark & Jason Goz.

You can read an extract from Charlie Dark’s reflection - “A Basement of Opportunities” via UKF.

And while I absolutely LOVED self-publishing the (now sold-out) first edition, having a tried and tested distribution system in place, alongside five years of experience publishing books on music and music culture that Velocity has, is invaluable.

I am super proud of this edition and look forward to receiving feedback about it An improvement on the first? Tell me! ;-)
